My college days were more from a City life at Kalyani University, where I studied Statistics (Honours) and developed interest in analytical reasoning and other instruments, which later were very helpful in my career. Being very keen on giving away what I have gathered, I started teaching computer science in Haldia and was really enjoying teaching young people as it continuously let me know more and teach more.

The more my exploration of statistical studies, programming and analytical reasoning hunger, grew I realise it is an energy source that can light me up till my brain is in play.

In my 50’s also, this curiosity has made me complete a PhD journey. Meanwhile, I have done many professional certificates for my reasoning and decision making.

In 1996, I joined Exide and my wishes of applying my accumulated knowledge through explorations as a teacher were about to be realized.

In the 90s, it was the initial days of Exide's IT push, which has an all-pervasive reach today; it has its humble beginnings in the middle of the 90s when computers were making their inroads into this country. IT-enabled business decision making was a distant dream that not too many dared to dream.

The industrial SBU was the first to foresee the opportunities that a software system could provide, and it was under the then Director, Mr Gautam Chatterjee's leadership that, for the first time, a software system, Industrial Battery Marketing System (IBMS) based on FoxPro as its backbone was implemented in the year 1996.

I was the only programmer to develop those initial FoxPro programs for deriving the MIS. As they were not centralized, we used to collect data from the regions in Floppy Discs and get them consolidated centrally.

Meanwhile, the ERP system was experiencing rapid growth worldwide in the late-90s. Because of the year-2000 problem, many companies took the opportunity to replace their old systems with ERP. Which is still the IT Backbone on which we are standing.

My SAP journey started from FoxPro and shifted to implementations & reporting in ABAP and deploying. I was soon leading solution design, delivering projects over complex IT landscapes and high-performance solutions across multiple industry verticals, building materials and IT Education, and End-to-End digital transformations. An Explorers mind believes in 'look for the latest technology’.

From Exide, I joined Mangalam Cement and again came back to Exide. In my days in Mangalam, I utilized the change in people and Industry to enhance my learnings and was key in defining IT strategy & enterprise-wide IT architecture, leading new business transformation projects, and ensuring smooth running of SAP S/4 HANA and enterprise-wide IT applications.

Mangalam Cement has been at the forefront of aggressively adopting technology to drive business and grow its business in India. I have been fortunate enough to drive those transformational initiatives. This implementation not only delivered targeted goals but gave a solid reference site for Industry and won the SAP Award for Customer Excellence (ACE) 2016 under Innovation Driven Technology Adoption and Excellence in ERP Transformation (On-Premise).

If you look at history, innovation doesn’t come just from giving people incentives; it comes from creating environments where their ideas can connect. I began as a teacher/trainer, always trying to give back a supporting hand to my team members so that they can cultivate the spark of problem-solving and innovation in every aspect of their careers. I myself do and encourage others to give speeches, coach, and help fellow industry explorers to attain their actualization and innovative goals so that we can foster a new growth culture.
